Koma
Ghana
The archaeological site of the Koma in northern Ghana was discovred in 1985. The Komaland culture centres around this site, where archaeologists and looters found numerous circular tumuli dating from around the 16th century. The findings of the Koma is arguably one of the great Afrcican archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. Knowledge of the Koma culture is based exclusively on their artistic production since neither historical, social nor political information is known to exist.
